*Family relationships and issues
*Worry due to financial pressures
I have worked in the voluntary sector for some twenty years counselling people affected by addiction and co-dependency issues as well as domestic abuse. I have a Diploma in Counselling and a Foundation Degree in Humanistic Counselling with Greenwich University.
I am a member of the B.A.C.P (British Association of Counselling Practioners) and adhere to their ethical framework.
My approach is ‘Humanistic and Person-Centred’, incorporating, Gestalt therapy and underpinned by the philosophy of Existentialism. Humanistic therapy emerged in the 1950's, this approach focuses on recognising human capabilities in areas such as creativity, personal growth and choice. Two major theorists associated with this approach are Carl Rogers ‘person-centred approach’ and Abraham Maslow.
The main goals of humanistic psychology are to find out how individuals perceive themselves here and now and to recognise growth, self-direction and responsibilities. This method is optimistic and attempts to help individuals recognise their strengths by offering a non-judgemental, understanding experience.
My counselling practice is based at The Selsdon Park Medical Practice in Surrey and my approach is the Person-centred model integrated with
Gestalt and Existentialism.
This means that you direct the counselling and decide what you want to explore with total confidentiality.
I will be with you on your journey to self discovery by facilitating you in the direction of change you wish to take.
